About Me

Justin-6-17-15

I’m Justin Schwartz, an Executive Editor for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. My opinions are my own and have nothing to do with my employer. I’m an occasional food writer and wannabe photographer, and this blog is about what I’m up to these days. I’m the author of Veg Out Vegetarian Guide to New York City and The Marshmallow Fluff Cookbook. You can email me at justin at justinschwartz.com, but if your question is about how to get your book published, please read my FAQ. I’m also on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook (fan page).

A lot of the books I write about are ones I’ve edited, so my opinions are very biased. And if I didn’t publish the book, someone probably gave it to me for free, so keep that in mind before you take my word for it. Sometimes I just like to give a shout-out to my friends.

  1. Hi Justin. Found your site via the link of GlutenFreeGirl’s site re the cookbook blog you wrote. The reason I am writing you though is – desperately would love the recipe for the 3-layer bars that you have as your header on your home page :-P It looks so divine and would love to get the recipe (and of course alter to be gluten, milk free if it isn’t already). Thanks so much!!! Babs

  2. Justin – love the blog, love the insight into a cookbook editor’s world. I’ve enjoyed following you so far – especially with pics from NYC restaurants…. I need to make it out to Brooklyn more, clearly! And when you’re reading to feature zucchini pasta, I’m your girl! :)

  3. Based on your bio, you seem like a straight forward kind of guy minus all the fluff which is a good thing. I landed on your page due to a link you left on a tea party event coming soon (I’m considering in going myself). I must tell you, your photos are beautiful. You say you’re a wannabe photographer well, I think you’ve succeeded. I always admire great photos so keep those posts coming. I look forward to reading more of your work.

    1. You’re so kind. Thank you. I’m such a big fan of your restaurant of course, but I don’t really shoot photos for anyone but myself. If you want to email me at justcooknyc@gmail.com, I could recommend lots of great photographers, many of whom I hire and work with regularly for my cookbook projects. By the way, have you brought back gluten-free bread yet, because I was so sad when I last went there and you’d stopped offering it!

  4. Hi, Justin…
