If you’re like me, then you’re baking like mad this time of year. Good thing I published a new cookie book this season, Recipe of the Week: Cookies by Sally Sampson. I just baked a batch of yummy morsels you see on the cover, German Chocolate Cookies. The idea of the recipe is to morph German chocolate cake into cookie form. Mmmmmm. I had to improvise a bit, because I only had regular unsweetened cocoa, not Dutch process, and I didn’t have the German’s sweet chocolate, so I added some bittersweet chips and some semisweet chips. No worries, this is a versatile recipe. The book is out now, so if you don’t get the gift you wanted for the holidays, you might want to buy this one for yourself. And check out this link — the author is involved with a great cause, a cookie baking drive to raise money to fund development of a new Cancer treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Buy the book through the link on this page and part of the proceeds will go to the charity.
