I wasn’t expecting to find a chocolate and gelato place like Sucre in New Orleans, but I was really happy when I did. Apparently it’s no secret, because it was packed inside. Sure, it was hot out and the gelatos looked amazing, but that doesn’t quite explain it. Take one look at these chocolates, and I think you’ll begin to understand.
First off, the chocolates behind are gorgeous. Second, they come in cool flavors like chai, Sicilian pistachio, and Chinese 5-spice. (The only other place I know doing flavors as cool as that is Vosges, but even they can’t top Sucre.) And third, these chocolates are amazing, both in taste and texture. I tried just a couple, because I’d already had ice cream and a fried oyster sandwich that afternoon, but I am dying to go back and try more. Maybe they take phone orders?
