Take that Grom… just kidding. I really like Grom, but you can read more about that here. I spotted Scoop in London nearby the Covent Garden tube station. It was pretty hard to miss, even on this tiny side street, because there is a mob outside all the time. Actually, this was a relatively quiet moment with just a handful of people on line, so I decided to stop in while I had the chance. I’m not a fan of NYC’s “line culture,” but it’s different when you’re an out-of-towner. You just have to go for it. And if you get bored while in line, at least you can check out what’s in the window of the lingerie store next door.
The gelatos all looked amazing, although there is something a little cheese-y about the way they’re displayed. Eh, cheese-y is fine with me, as long as it tastes good. Hmmm, what looks good?
I can’t remember what I ordered, but it was probably something like extra-double-dark chocolate and then something nutty, like hazelnut or peanut. The chocolate was heaven. It was dark and intense, erring on the bitter side over sweet. Think of the best, super-dark chocolate bar you’ve ever tried, and then turn that into cold and creamy goodness. That’s what this was like. Trying this was a food memory I’m likely to have for a long, long time.
