I mentioned I was working on a shoot downtown this week. It was for a revised, updated edition of Amy Scherber and Toy Kim Dupree’s classic Amy’s Bread cookbook. Unlike most shoots, we started the first day with a huge table full of breads to photograph, all brought over straight from the Chelsea Market bakery. That’s a lot of bread.
The photographer was Aimee Herring, and I think she did a great job. There she is behind the camera, doing her thing. It was fun working with Katie and Laurent too. And of course having Amy and Toy on set is always fun.
I don’t have any real images to post yet, but I snapped this shot of the computer screen at one point — it’s a cool shot. The book won’t be out until December 2009, but if you can’t wait, let me suggest you check out the brand-new The Sweeter Side of Amy’s Bread. It is hitting stores this week, and I think you’ll be impressed. Yes, I tasted everything in the book, and I can’t wait to start baking from it at home.
What did we do with all the leftover bread? It was a bit of a free-for-all at the end of the day, with everyone on set grabbing multiple loaves for family and friends. If you were really lucky like Jen, you got an in-person delivery. (Ignore the ‘wichcraft bag — that’s one of Amy’s signature loaves, and a very happy girl, in the photo).
