macaron towers & go-go dancers

I’m definitely not cool enough to have gotten a real invite to Preston Bailey’s book launch party last night, but my girlfriend, Jen, works for the company that did the food — awesome! It was quite an affair. Martha Wash and Gloria Gaynor performed live (yes, seriously). I’d love to post photos for you of the go-go dancers, but I think Google would flag my blog for adult content. (Email me…)

The lighting and decorations were fabulous, as you’d expect.

The runway is hard to describe. It came down from the ceiling and was backlit with photos from the book. But it was in motion, and the photos changed as it ran down the length of the space. Darn, I should have taken a video to show you what I mean.

That’s me and Jen, of course, taking a snapshot at the party.

You know how you go to a nice bakery and can’t decide which cupcake to try? Well, this was pretty much an all-you-can-eat free-for-all. They had big ones, baby ones, chocolate, red velvet, you name it. Seriously, there was enough dessert for a small army.

And not just cupcakes, but all kinds of sweet treats, plus cool complimentary caipirinhas made from Leblon Cachaca, and outrageously good hors d’oeuvres. It was not my typical Thursday night, but it was a lot of fun.
