my new cookie scoop

Butterscotch oatmeal cookies
First, the winner of the giveaway for a copy of The Good Stuff Cookbook by Spike Mendelsohn is… Autumn from Finding Food. Congratulations! I had a craving for oatmeal cookies the other day and found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. I’m sure her recipe was perfect, but I also had a craving for Nestle butterscotch morsels, and I just happened to have a bag in the house, so I used those instead of the regular chocolate chips.

But this post is really about my new cookie scooper. I visited a new friend at OXO Good Grips recently, and when she heard I was an avid baker and didn’t own a cookie scooper (weird, I know…), she insisted I take one of these home to try out. So what’s the verdict? I love my new cookie scooper. But now I’m wondering why I never bought one of these before. I was always fumbling with soup spoons and making really irregular cookies — and a big mess. No more messy cookies for me.

How did the cookies taste? Let’s just say, if you’ve been dreaming about butterscotch chips, you should give this a try. Maybe next time I’ll do half butterscotch and half chocolate.
