behind the scenes with Allison Fishman

Fishman shoot
Sorry things have been a little slow here at my blog — I’ve been really busy lately. It’s mostly good stuff (still eating, cooking, photographing), but I’m running a bit behind schedule. That gorgeous beet dish is a snapshot I took at a photoshoot for the first cookbook by Allison Fishman. If her name sounds familiar, you might remember Allison from the Lifetime show Cook Yourself Thin. Or maybe you know about her cooking school in Brooklyn.
Allison Fishman and Lucy Schaeffer
That’s Allison with the cute apron in front of the camera, and the amazing photographer Lucy Schaeffer behind it.

Deborah Williams did the prop styling — this is just a small sample of the cool stuff she brought for the shoot.

Those are some more snapshots from behind the scenes at the shoot. The real photos by Lucy will be much nicer, trust me. The book (still untitled, but I’ll let you know) will be out in Spring 2011. Believe it or not, this is a healthy cookbook with calorie and fat gram counts. If I can eat a plate of spaghetti and meatballs without the guilt, sign me up.
Simon Andrews
And what behind-the-scenes blog post would be complete without photos of the food stylist in action? This time it’s one of my faves, Simon Andrews. Thanks, Lucy, Deborah, and Simon for doing a great job. Now I can’t wait for this book to come out.
