behind the scenes with Big Daddy

I’ve been busy on photo shoots lately, and this week was a fun one! Yes, I’m shooting with Aaron McCargo, Jr., the winner of The Next Food Network Star in 2008 and the host of Big Daddy’s House on Food Network. His cookbook won’t be out until early next year, but here’s a little preview. Needless to say, working with Aaron is a true pleasure. He’s got a great smile and a personality to match. We all had a lot of fun today.

The food was mouth-watering. This over-the-top pizza didn’t even make it through lunch before the crew ate the leftovers.

Like all photo shoots, there is a great team working behind the scenes. Photographer Lucy Schaeffer was in charge — these are just my snapshots here, so you’ll have to wait to see the real book if you want to check out Lucy’s photos. And in the shot above, that’s food stylist Simon Andrews working his magic, and prop stylist Amy Wilson lending a hand.

This was my first time working with Amy Wilson (and her assistant, Nina), and as you can see from these props, she’s really talented.

We’ve got so many great photos of Aaron, I don’t know how we’ll choose one for the cover.

And oh man, the good food never ends. I have to say, this is going to be a cool cookbook. If you’re a Big Daddy’s House fan, just be patient — it will be worth the wait.
