so many mojitos

101 Mojitos

Someone pinch me because I can hardly believe it — Kim Haasarud just published the sixth book in her 101 cocktail series, 101 Mojitos and Other Muddled Drinks. I can still remember the day when I thought up the idea for this series. Then I got in touch with Kim, and the rest is history. Here are some of my snapshots from behind the scenes at the shoot. You’ll have to check out the actual book to see the real photos by the amazing Alexandra Grablewski.

101 Mojitos

I’ve lost track of what these all are, but check out the cocktail on the right with the jalapeno in it. Spicy! Everything in these snapshots is styled by Brian Preston-Campbell. No way could I make cocktails that look this good myself.

That’s Alexandra, the photographer.

Gorgeous props — one of the best things about a cookbook photoshoot. How cool would it be to have a prop closet at home?

101 Mojitos

I like some of these photos because unlike the real ones in the book, you can see the studio space and where the backgrounds run out. Of course those are no-no’s in professional photography, but it’s cool to see how things come together.

101 Mojitos

This snapshot is tightly cropped just like it would be in the book. When I see a drink photo like this, it makes me long for summer. I have been complaining endlessly about the winter this year, but come on… it was pretty bad! I’m ready for warm nights and ice cold, fruity cocktails about now.

  1. I love the peach one on the pink linen with the edge of the table framing it. Gorgeous. Just screams summer to me. Looks like a lot of fun!

  2. Hmmm – nothing beats a good mojito, which I can enjoy year round. If you are looking for a really good one in NYC, the BEST is at Ideya at West Broadway between Broome and Grand. I have been enjoying them for years no matter how hot or cold it is outside.

  3. There are million reasons why I come here to your blog, but one of the main ones is because I LOVE to see the “behind the scenes” posts you do.

And though I love mojitos and other muddled drinks, I am IN LOVE with the idea of a prop closet. Oh to have an apartment big enough to store all those gorgeous things. All those glasses and pieces of fabric. want. Love. NEED.

Thanks for the sneak peek of the shoot.
