thinking about Japan

I’m a little too busy editing the recipes for the cool Peko Peko project, a charity cookbook for Japan relief, to write a real blog post today. But on a related subject, I hope you visited one of the Bake Sale for Japan events across the country on Saturday. I stopped by the one at the season opening of the outdoor Brooklyn Flea. (Where was my favorite Mile End booth?) Somehow I missed a whole bunch of friends who later told me they were there either just before or after my visit. Darn.

But of course I still picked up some treats, namely these adorable brownie pops donated by The Chocolate Swirl. Thanks to them and everyone else who donated sweets to this great cause.

  1. It’s always inspiring to see people across all borders come together to help those in need. You can never underestimate the power of the human heart and spirit.
