This drawing is now closed, sorry! Congrats to the winners. Chocolate cake in a healthy cookbook? Yes, please. I’ve been dying to write about You Can Trust a Skinny Cook again because I’ve been cooking out of it for the past year, ever since the manuscript was first delivered to me. In fact I love this book so much, I’m doing a little giveaway. Two winners will be chosen at random from anyone in the U.S. or Canada who posts a comment here — one entry per person please.
The first time I wrote about this project, I couldn’t give away much information, but now the book is showing up in stores across the country. If author Allison Fishman looks familiar, you might remember her as one of the co-hosts of Lifetime’s Cook Yourself Thin show, which turned into a best-selling cookbook by the same name. If you don’t know her, you’ll be in for a treat if you check out this book — her smart tips, awesome-tasting recipes, and great sense of humor come through on every page so well, you almost forget these recipes are good for you.
Here are some of my own snapshots from behind the scenes at the photoshoot. As usual, you’ll have to see the real book for the gorgeous photos by Lucy Schaeffer, and you won’t be disappointed. In fact the stunning photo of lemon-blueberry tarts on her web site home page are from this book.
Food styling credit goes to Simon Andrews — yes, I work with Simon a lot because he’s incredibly talented and a really nice guy. How cool is this shot? We wanted an overhead angle for the frittata, so we had to move the set to the floor to make it work.
The propping was done by Deborah Williams. I always have to post a few photos like these from photoshoots just to make Irvin Lin a little jealous.
I need to make this soup recipe soon — love the color.
The desserts in this book are really amazing. Allison has a great philosophy that people aren’t likely to stick to a healthy diet if they’re deprived all the time. I’m totally with her on that.
Shhh, don’t tell Allison I posted this series of photos of her being silly on set. She’s just so cute and funny, I couldn’t resist.
Remember, I’m giving away two copies of You Can Trust a Skinny Cook, so just post a comment if you’d like to be entered. And good luck!
